Three Reasons to Hire a Professional Logo Designer

Unsure of whether to hire a professional logo designer? For many start-ups, the cost of hiring a professional logo designer can seem like an unnecessary expense. Many start-ups opt for a logo created with a ‘free Logo Creator’ app, or a logo put together by a friend/family member who knows a thing or two about Photoshop.

A logo is the foundation of a brand. The face of a company. In fact, a good logo can actually help win business! So it’s surprising how little importance many start-ups place on creating such an essential marketing tool for their business. In this short post, we’ll look at three reasons why every start-up should hire a professional logo designer to design their company logo.

#1 – You’re covered legally

Normally the legal stuff is not the first thing we think about when it comes to logo design. But it should be. Hiring a professional logo designer will ensure that your logo is 100% unique to your company. They will also make sure the fonts used (if any) are legally licensed to you for commercial use. This protects your company from being sued for copyright infringement, or for using elements or fonts without proper licensing. In short – You’ve covered your back legally.

#2 – Your logo is attracting the right audience

Have you ever noticed how companies that make children’s toys all have logos that use childish fonts and imagery? Is that just a coincidence or are they trying to target a particular audience? No doubt these companies want the attention of children who’ll be relentless in ‘nagging’ their parents to purchase that particular toy for them. These companies hire professionals to design their logos to ensure that they’re appealing to the right audience. A professional logo designer will create a logo that speaks to your audience, whilst keeping your logo design unique from your competition.

#3 – Your logo is always at it’s best

As professional logo designers that work with numerous clients, we often see companies posting pixelated/poor-quality versions of their logos on their social media accounts or websites. It’s even worse when they’ve printed them on business cards, flyers, etc.

A professional logo designer is not just hired for his/her creative skills. A professional logo designer also knows what methods to use when displaying your logo, and how it should be best displayed. They understand when your logo should be in RGB format instead of CMYK. Or when your logo should be displayed at 300PPI. Or when 72PPI will do just fine. A professional logo designer knows how to keep your logo looking great wherever it’s displayed.

In Summary

The creation of a successful company logo, and brand, is a well-thought-out process. Carefully executed by a skilled designer or team of designers. That said, hiring a professional to create your logo doesn’t have to be expensive. There are many designers/firms that will work with you to provide a quality logo design service that fits within your budget.

  1. I never even thought about the legal part! Imagine getting a logo created and using it across all your marketing materials only to find that the logo is protected under copyright and then you get sued!
